The Pine is a very
contemporary design especially suitable to the narrow
sites so as to allow as much land as possible around
the villa for landscaping and privacy. Owners may wish
to groove point the external blockwork and leave it
natural and low maintenance. A splash of colour would
highlight the windows and doors and create a pleasing
contrast to the natural earthtones. Almost any type of
roof cladding would go with this design - pre-coloured
aluzinc sheeting, asphalt or timber shingles, clay
tiles - whatever.
The Ground Floor is
an open layout plan with minimal walls so that there
is a feeling of airiness and spaciousness. It allows
owners the freedom to size and layout the kitchen to
suit individual preferences. The Patio can be extended
as far as is desirable so long as it ends at least 12'
from the rear boundary. The Patio could also be
wrapped around the Living Room so as to be
incorporated into the guest entrance.
Bedrooms 2 and 3 are
a comfortable size with enough room for large clothes
closets and twin or double beds. If more permanent
living accommodation is required, the Family Room can
be enclosed as a fourth bedroom or study simply by
adding a wall with a door. Otherwise it could be
furnished with convertible day beds for overnight
visitors. The second bathroom has a separately
enclosed WC so as to accommodate two users
simultaneously and also incorporates the laundry. The
Master Bath also has a separately enclosed WC and a
walk-in clothes cupboard. Owners may elect to
eliminate the walk-in cupboard in order to enlarge the
bathroom and build in clothes cupboards in the
bedroom. An interesting option would be to built a
mezzanine deck in the gable of the Master Suite to use
as a home study or hobby room. Even more interesting
would be to incorporate the bed into the mezzanine
design so that it is the canopy of a four poster. The
Pine is 1,832 square feet under roof which makes it
one of the more economical villas.
