The Mahogany is for
homeowners with older children or "empty nests". The
Master Suite is on the ground floor - let the
youngsters run up and down the stairs.Contemporary of
design, the Mahogany may best be finished with smooth
concrete walls in pastel shades, aluminium sliding
doors and windows, and a pre-coloured aluzinc roof.
The ceiling options would include exposed rafters with
close boarding or gypsum on metal rails.
The Master Suite is indeed huge with a "walk-through"
cupboard leading into the Master Bath with separately
enclosed WC. An option would be to substitute a
whirlpool spa for the shower and put a small shower in
the space allocated for a linen closet (linens could
always be stored in the bedroom closets or the
laundry). The large dresser could accommodate his and
her face basins. The kitchen is large enough to place
an island with counter top cooker. The space for the
stove could then be used for a built-in oven. The
laundry is located under the stairs and there is
enough room for storage shelves for the linens and
laundry accessories. The living and dining room with
its two storey vaulted ceiling opens up to a wrap
around porch for comfortable entertaining space. The
powder room is discretely located in the foyer to the
Master Suite and ofcourse, there is a double carport.
Two extra bed-rooms
with a family/tv room on the landing. The second
bathroom has private entries from the bedrooms as well
as an entry from the family/TV. The dormer over the
family/TV room has a large picture window across the
entire with of the room and stairwell to let in light
and avoid a "closed in" feeling. Owners might want to
consider letting the lower level of the stairs "float"
to increase the feeling of openness and space.
