The Cypre is the
smallest of the villas at 1,600 square feet (excluding
the carport) but is surprisingly roomy because of dual
uses for some of the spaces. For example, the living
room opens unto the carport which can double as a
covered patio by leaving the cars in the driveway. The
carport roof can be a concrete slab making it into an
uncovered balcony off the upper floor bedrooms.
Owners can decide if
the main entrance should be in the centre between the
living and dining rooms or on the street side through
the dining room. A great enhancement would be a
cantilevered trellis over the walkway. The
architecture would lend itself to either a
contemporary or traditional look simply by changing
the window and door styles. Arched French windows and
doors would be traditional and a contemporary look can
be achieved either with timber louvers or aluminium
sliding doors and windows with smoked or bronzed
glazing.
Owners can think
about "flipping" over the floor plan so that the
balcony is off the Master Suite. This would also have
to be applied to the Ground Floor because of the
staircase position. The Family Room would then be next
to the Carport and the Kitchen would be on the
roadside. Another option would be to make Bedroom 2
smaller by carrying the corridor through to the
balcony. Notice that the clothes cupboards are popped
out in small alcoves off of the bedrooms so as not to
encroach into the bedroom space. Bathroom 2 and the
Master Bathroom have separately enclosed WCs to allow
2 users simultaneously. The Master Bath has room for
both a tub (or whirlpool spa) and a shower. The
Laundry is also in the Master Bathroom which could be
very convenient since the "madam" of the household
usually ends up doing the laundry for the whole
family. When a Cypre is located on a corner lot, the
driveway would be shortened because the roadway would
be accessed from the near side leaving a wide front
yard.
